Cane Corso Main Personality Traits

Cane Corsos are intensely loyal, affectionate, calm, confident, intelligent, docile, eager to please, friendly, fearless, assertive and strong-willed. Each Cane Corso is unique and will favour different traits, but they generally are the following:

Protection and loyalty

Your Cane Corso dog will devote itself to you. They make great family pets and have no interest in anyone other than their family at home. Their loyal and protective nature makes for an excellent guard dog.

Your Cane Corso will protect you at all times. They are very alert, territorial, and intelligent. So these pups will look after you and have your back. They are fiercely loyal and be your ultimate and trusty companion; you will be their everything as they have no interest in others.

Affectionate and Sensitive

Cane Corsos are truly gentle giants as an adult dog. Many people tend to be somewhat scared of giant breeds, but this pup wants to love and be loved. They are very affectionate, especially with their owners and will be very happy cuddled up on the couch.

They are also very sensitive and aware of their owner’s emotions and mood. They often think that they are why their owner feels happy or sad. And due to this, they make very tight and deep bonds with their humans.

Intelligent

They are highly intelligent and require a lot of mental and physical stimulation. They love being given something to do. They are a working dog and will thrive in dog sports.

Due to their intelligent nature, they are prone to taking charge, so proper obedience training from a dog trainer and laying firm boundaries are essential for this pup. For this reason, they’re also best for experienced pet parents.

Cane Corsos and Your Family

Can Cane Corsos live with other dogs?

Like most dog breeds, Cane Corso puppies will require a lot of socialization to get along well with other doggos. They generally have no interest in anyone or anything else other than their family.

However, they will get along with dogs if they have been introduced and socialized early on. They may struggle with dogs of the same sex as they might turn quite aggressive.

Can Cane Corsos live with other pets?

Cane Corsos can live with other animals as long as they have been socialized. However, their size and energy levels may not be the best fit for small dogs or cats. They also tend to get quite territorial, which can be problematic with other pets.

Can Cane Corso live with kids?

Yes, they can. Cane Corsos are fantastic family dogs; they are affectionate, loyal, and protective and care for their owners and family. However, their size and energy levels may not be the best choice for families with smaller children.

It is always best to take caution when dogs are around children, but Cane Corsos will undoubtedly be a great fit for families with children a bit older.

Do Cane Corsos Have Any Behavioural Issues?

So, does the Cane Corso personality have any negative sides? Well, they will start to show signs of bad behaviour when they feel bored or want attention. They require a lot of exercise, and if they do not get it, they will become bored and restless, which can lead to behavioural issues.

Your doggo will likely start chewing anything and everything or start digging holes in your garden. To avoid bad behaviour, give them loads of attention and make sure that they keep active.

The best way to avoid behavioural issues is to train your Cane Corso puppy as soon as possible. Their domineering nature could also lead them to behave badly in an unfamiliar situation, like meeting a stranger for the first time.

Yes, they are. They will not do well just sitting around; they thrive off being busy and through physical stimulation. They do not need as much exercise as other large breeds, but they are athletic dogs.
