FAQs
How much does a Chow Chow cost in Sydney?
Chow puppies sell for between $1000-$4000.
What paperwork should come with a Chow Chow puppy in Sydney?
You should receive the following information when you purchase your puppy:
Registration papers: These include a registration number specific to your puppy, which you can use to register them with an official body like a kennel club, a working dogs club or a national breed club. Only a registered breeder can issue these papers; they are crucial if you want to enter them into competitions.
Once they have an account with one of the above bodies, this will give you a place to store their information.
Proof of pedigree: This is a record of your dog's family tree, which will cover at least three generations. Breeders who line-breed puppies won't keep a record of this, and tracking this information is hard work and a sign of dedication.
Health documentation: These are evidence that your dog is healthy. You can request these before you agree to purchase your dog and request their parents' health documents to see if they are at risk of any genetic conditions. The results you should expect are:
- Clear eye test
- Progressive retinal atrophy
- Hip scoring
- Elbow scoring
Your breeder should also prove that they have vaccinated, wormed and been microchipped.
Is it safe to buy a Chow Chow puppy online?
Any established breeder of these pups interested in doing business will meet you in person before they sell their puppies, so you shouldn't trust someone willing to part with their dogs via online messages or Facebook without first meeting you. While you can approach them online, you should never finalise the sale without having met them first.
