FAQs
How much does a Chihuahua cost in Brisbane?
Chihuahuas from an approved Dogs QLD member will go for sale for between $3000-$3800.
What paperwork should come with a Chihuahua puppy in Brisbane?
All Dogs QLD approved breeders should provide you with the following standard documentation:
**Registration papers** - Each registration certificate will come with a registration number that is specific to every dog. You can use this number to register them with a chihuahua club though this is only possible if they're a purebred chihuahua, which every breeder on our list deals in.
**Proof of pedigree** - A pedigree certificate assures you that your dog has been bred to breed standard and isn't inbred or line-bred by providing proof of their parentage up to at least three previous generations.
**Health test documentation** - Make sure you receive this important document as their registration papers will have no information on the health of your dog. You'll want to be sure their chihuahua puppies are healthy, as well as be aware of any conditions present in the dam and sire.
**Veterinary documentation** - A reputable Dogs QLD registered breeder should provide you with documentation to prove your pet chihuahua has been vet-checked. This should prove they've been double vaccinated, had flea treatment, and been wormed.
**A contract of sale** - This standard sale contract includes all the necessary documentation to show that a legitimate sale has taken place and is a mark of a responsible breeding business.
Is it safe to buy a chihuahua puppy online?
While it is possible to purchase a chihuahua through a legitimate online seller, it's always smarter not to fast-track the process and do your due diligence to ensure that you're getting involved with a reliable breeder. A legitimate breeder should want to meet you in person as well.
How can I protect myself when buying a chihuahua in Brisbane?
You're unlikely to be in any danger from dodgy breeders when selecting from our list, but to take extra precautions, ensure someone goes with you or, failing that, at least one person knows where you're going, do your best not to travel too far within Queensland and make sure you've spoken to the breeder before travelling to meet them.
