The breeder has been a member of Dogs Queensland (CCC) since 1989 and established Hawkesmill in 2011 following 40 years of breeding Samoyeds under the prefix Sunsam. They have achieved numerous accolades including No. 1 Japanese Spitz Show Dog of the Year, Best of Breed at Royal Shows including Brisbane Royal EKKA and Launceston Royal, and have shown dogs in Australia, New Zealand and at Crufts in the UK.
